I think it's picky, fussy directions like these that scare a lot of people off from starting with seed instead of plants. When I had my first garden, I didn't know you could even buy started plants, so I just planted seeds and they grew. Some did better than others, so I paid attention to what worked and what didn't. Odd how well that works, lol!

I strongly disagree with some of this advice. I'm starting Genovese
tomatoes and Italian frying peppers right now, no problems.
