Two of you have posted about robbing infants that are breastfed of healthy nutrients that can only be provided from animal-based foods; with particular note to fat, such as butterfat. Aliza, you said that two vegan women had their thyroids crash.

Do you have specific studies, or recall parts of specific studies by any chance that I could look them up? How is animal-based food tied to the thyroid? I have read about the hormones in milk being connected to breast cancer; however I believe there are other things in milk that may be connected to it also. Neither my husband's family, nor mine, has any history of breast cancer; and we are both descended from dairy farm families with lots of women in them, drinking lots of milk. I sometimes wonder if the breast cancer rates with milk-drinkers are tied to something other than the milk itself, such as pesticide use, which neither of our families use much. I have lots of questions about the details.

The argument with vegans seems to be dying down a little, and I don't want to add another component to it just now; but I am curious for future reference. What specifically does animal fat have to do with brain development of an infant? Thanks,

Gwen
