I'm interested in using cover crops for the market garden. They've long
been advocated by USDA and everybody else for field cropping, but there's
very little about using them for soil improvement and winter cover in the
home or market garden.

Looking up buckwheat for my own enlightenment, came up with this from U. of
Missouri Extension
Buckwheat: A Multi-Purpose, Short-Season Alternative
Robert L. Myers and Louis J. Meinke

And this one on Hairy Vetch,
http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/afcm/vetch.html
They mention planting rye and vetch together in the fall. But if rye is
allelopathic to other plants trying to germinate, how does that work? I
can't locate an answer to that one.
