I'm taking on a 2nd telecommuting job and will now have 3 laptop computers on my desk: a MacBook Pro, a ThinkPad, and an HP PC. The Mac and HP are connected to a 25" Samsung monitor that has dual video inputs and I switch effortlessly between them using the source button on my monitor's remote. I currently use a Mac Keyboard and Mouse and a Logitech combo for the PC. It's annoying, but I've gotten used to it. A second monitor is out of the question as my cat has adamantly claimed the real estate adjacent to the current monitor. Also, a third keyboard and mouse would really send me over the top as I already have difficulty switching the two existing sets between background and foreground.

I've been researching KVM switches and some reviews are troublesome re quality of transmission, so I really don't know which is best to use.

My systems are Mountain Lion and Windows 7 (I use the Mac nights/weekends and to check email periodically during the day).

Any recommendations for a switch that won't degrade my VGA picture quality since I use the PCs for graphics work? I prefer not to have to spend hundreds of $$ for a high end 4-port setup; so a dual switch would be OK for the PCs and I'd just leave the Mac in the DVI port (switching the source as I have been doing).

Thanks in advance for your feedback,

Susan
