Unless I am mistaken, the iTunes store sells songs with AAC encoding, rather
than MP3. You need iTunes to make the purchase, however, and iTunes will
convert the songs to MP3 for you.

I have bought songs from Amazon through their music service. They are sold
as MP3, though I believe they require you to install an application.

I am sure there are other options, but these are the only two I have used.
