The last working program I wrote was a few lines of MacTuring, so I
don't know jack about the language as a language, but you might be
interested to know that LUA was picked by BioWare to be used for all
the environmental and scripted (as in dialogue, not executable
scripts) parts of the Neverwinter Nights games with the explicit
purpose of making the game tools easier for players to pick up, learn
and use.
Blizzard uses it for all the User Interface tools they build into
World of Warcraft and have also explicitly made the game interface
open for modification by player-programmers who write add-ons for WoW
in LUA. Sites like ui.worldofwar.net and wow.curse-gaming.com are
chock full of small WoW add-ons written using LUA if you want
examples.
