A friend at a local nonprofit has asked me about upgrading their site to an open source content management system. I pointed them to a few companies who do Plone, but they want to explore a broader range of CMS options.

I'm a big fan of Website Baker <http://www.websitebaker.org>. Mainly because the back end is so incredibly easy for end users to work with. It's more page-based than an application like Joomla, so it's easier to understand right away. The downside is that it's slightly more complicated to assign the same "chunk" of content to multiple pages, although if you plan well and design your templates right, you can overcome that. I have set up several small businesses and non-profits with WB, whose primary need was to be able to have their own employees edit text on the website anytime without a lot of time and money investment into learning "web design." A reasonably bright person can sit down, log in, and edit content on a WB site with little to no guidance, and you just can't say that about Joomla, Drupal, etc. Being a CMS, it's also very easy to set up a form that sends to email, maintain a calendar of events, etc.
