If you haven't already signed up, I believe this is the right URL for it: http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click? id=IngPVmceEY4&offerid=77482.10000007&type=4&subid=0

if you follow that URL you should get first month free and I think I get a free extra movie or something like that for referring you.

Don't use it if you don't want too, but hey thought what the heck :)

I'd second Netflix, in fact I am going to start an account very soon. The reason is, much like you, I like what most people would consider to be odd movies: documentaries, some foreign films, other films like Never Cry Wolf, The Devil's Backbone, things like that and Netflix has a much greater selection.
