I've just moved to the RTP area from Chicago, and have a few questions for you
all. How is the job market for Tech/Internet workers in this area?

I don't think the job market in this area has recovered from the big hit when the market crashed and telcoms imploded. By all accounts the number of workers in the tech. industry in the US is shrinking. NC's rating for unemployment, if a 1 ranking is best, and 50th, is worst, is rated 34th in the nation in June. I couldn't find the rankings for just the tech. industry in NC, and the BLS doesn't break out "web developer", but the number of people employed as "computer programmers" in 2000 in the US was 530,730, which had shrunk to 431,640 in 2003.
