Dear Staff,

It was pleasant to meet all of you last night. I think it's good for the
company for us to have these little gatherings; management needs to keep
its finger on the pulse of the company in order for us to overcome these
lean times. Rest assured; there are no layoffs scheduled for at least the
next three months.

I was especially pleased to hear from MDT that he is stepping down and
that the Secret Board of Directors has voted me the new President - CEO -
Director - Chairman - Regent - CTO - Project Manager - Senior Editor -
Chief Programmer - Content Manager - Senior DBA - Publicist - List Manager
- Gandalf the White - Sole Shareholder - Chief Penguin Herder. All I can
say is, it's about time. Since at least 1994 I've been the only obvious
choice to head up this herd of cats.

As such, there will be some policy changes coming down the pipeline. I
plan to name Mr. Matusiak my Chief Gaffer. There will be a press
conference on Monday. I intend to delegate to him everything except my
authority and check-signing ability. The One Ring is mine. Other changes
will come as the need arises.

For starters, I've noticed several complaints about the length of threads.
A filter will be added to the listserv by the end of next week (better
get started on that DRM...) that will limit each subscriber to one post
per day and a total of 30 posts to the list per day overall. Furthermore,
for those of you subscribed in digest mode, the digest will henceforth
contain only the first two lines of each message. Be concise, people; we
don't have all day to take over the world.

Also, by close of business Tuesday I'll need everyone's userids and
passwords to your various accounts, especially for servers you might be
running at home. This will greatly enhance the speed and flexibility of
the new interface to which I plan to task Mr. Matusiak. This new
Thought-to-Web interface, or Mentalese User Interface (MUI), will increase
your work performance exponentially. No more fussing with a keyboard and
mouse; simply touch your monitor and *think* your way to corporate
enhancement.

Lastly, I've noticed a preponderance of Luser Groups in the Triangle that
have been infringing on INW copyrights and patents for unmoderated (going
to have to change that...) listservs and monthly meetings. In the wake of
the SCO success story, I believe I'll have Legal draw up a few lawsuits.

Thank you all. Your hard work and dedication is usually appreciated. I
look forward to mingling with you again at next month's gathering,
apparantly at Beth's house.

Alan MacHett
Supreme Leader
