I can't speak for the company/agency in question, but having had to go
through secret and top secret clearance investigations for the Army, I'll
recount what I know about that. "Don't ask, don't tell", being a pinko
Commie, and felonies aside, the posers-that-be don't much care what one's
done as long as one is honest about it. The issue Shea mentioned is
blackmail. If one is open about one's questionable past, then no basis
exists for blackmail. And the blackmail in question would be by corporate
or foreign spies.
If one has done something embarrassing or questionable or mildly illegal
in the past, then say so on the polygraph. It'll register as a truth and
the basic thinking of the Men In Black will be, "Well, she's cool with it,
so we're cool with it..."
