Actually, Paul, the word generally means a process by which something
changes gradually into a different and generally more complex form. So I
think it does generally denote progress. In Biology, it specifically means
change by natural selection, so that should also include progress.

Oh, and I've heard Cackalacky for a long time. And y'all should all try the
hot sauce. It's great!
