hey Bob --

do you want to actually /do/ anything with this(these) registered domain(s)
or
do you just want to reserve it? not that it matters to me, but it might be a
cost issue for you.

the following highlights my personal experience with various registrars, not
that of my employer, my yogi, or my nephew.

NetworkSolutions - expensive monolith that does not care about you. $35/year
for
each registration?? WHY?

Dotster - a little better, heck, at least cheaper (~$14/yr last time i
checked).
but like Steve said, they will email you every week about their "NEW
SERVICE."
(you may be able to opt-out of those know -- i dunno).

GoDaddy -- $8.95/year, fairly decent interface (you can change all domain
info
at once *OR* do them individually), phone and web support (they were nice,
but
firm when i forgot my passwd - perfect). you can do hosting (or just email)
with
them, too. but since i wanted a totally kick-ass host, i went with:

HurricaneElectric - he.net gots the mad OC3s, yo. shell access, lotsa
features,
not bad prices. and if real estate is about "location, location, location"
then
web hosting is about "backbone, backbone, backbone."

so, i would recommend checking out godaddy.com for domain registration.
