I don't quite understand some of them, but here is a site dedicated to
showing Japanese TV commercials featuring well known Western stars hawking
Japanese products. Some are very entertaining.

http://www.japander.com/

From the Site:

"Japander:n.,& v.t.

1. a western star who uses his or her fame to make large sums of money in a
short time by advertising products in Japan that they would probably never
use. ~er (see synecure, prostitute)

2. to make an ass of oneself in Japanese media."

The cast includes:

Nicholas Cage, Liv Tyler, Dan Aykroyd, Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Bruce Willis,
Jeff Goldblum, Mariah Carey, Steven Seagal, Brad Renfro, Jean Reno, Brooke
Shields, Juliette Lewis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lara Flynn Boyle, Pierce
Brosnan, Jodie Foster, Christopher Lambert, Mel Gibson, Leonardo DiCaprio,
Tim Roth, Dennis Hopper, Michael J. Fox, Antonio Banderas, Kevin Costner,
Luc Besson, Madonna, Meg Ryan, Jamiroquai, Vanessa Williams, ZZTop, The
Muppets, Spike Lee, Winona Ryder, Quentin Tarantino, Julian Sands, Whoopi
Goldberg, Harrison Ford, Charlie Sheen, Cameron Diaz, Anthony Hopkins, The
Simpsons, Whitney Houston, Rachel Leigh Cook, Stevie Wonder, Sylvester
Stallone, Ringo Starr, Wallace and Gromit, Richard Gere, George Clooney,
Penelope Cruz, Ewan Macgregor, Brad Pitt-Edwin, Pitt-Roots/Rolex/Honda, Brad
Pitt-Print Ads, Rick Astley, Gabrielle Anwar, Jennifer Lopez, Kate
Beckinsale, Charlize Theron, Allison Elliot, Lauryn Hill, Timothy Dalton,
Ben Stiller, Jennifer Connelly, Peter Falk, Ray Charles, Sean Connery, Rod
Stewart

Waste some bandwidth and get a cheap laugh. Well, at least cheap for us, the
Japanese companies must have paid dearly.
