Bachelor's degree with nine semester hours in computer programming and
two years of progressive experience in computer programming; or
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems management
or a related curriculum and one year of progressive experience in
computer programming. A degree directly related to the technical
nature of the application(s) assigned may be substituted for up to six
months of the experience requirement.

Hiring Supervisor: Gregory Newby. Computer programming for cross
language information retrieval and information visualization.
Preferred candidate should possess undergraduate degree (grad pref.)
in computer/information science or similar. 1-2 years
project-oriented computer programming. Experience in C++. 2D and 3D
visualization programming, experience with Unix/Linux software
development tools (editors, CVS, make, g++, shell programming, etc.).
Effective interaction with other project members. Work
semi-independently, meet project deadlines. Web development including
HTML, CGI, HTTP. Knowledge of information retrieval, inc. sorting and
searching; text parsing; term weighting; matrix algebra. Knowledge of
cross-language information retrieval, including manipulation and
display of Chinese, Arabic and other languages. Knowledge of
information visualization, including self-organizing maps; point-cloud
visualization; hierarchies.
