Preferred Qualification:
ibiblio.org, the Public's
Library, is looking for a skilled and flexible person to join us as a
Systems Programmer I on a full time basis. The ideal candidate will
have strong experience with Linux systems and a strong background in
systems security and performance tuning. The candidate should have a
thorough grasp of TCP/IP networking; experience deploying end-to-end
high-traffic websites is a strong plus. The candidate should be
fluent in C and Perl; experience with Python, XML, and Java strong
plusses. The candidate should be familiar with using and managing
databases - mySQL and PostgreSQL, and have experience managing high
volume email transport systems. In addition, the candidate should
have experience in build management and configuration, with experience
in Quality Assurance methodologies and practice.
The candidate will
work under the Director and closely with the Administrator. Candidate
will also work in a shared supervisory position over up to 9 graduate
students with the Administrator and Director. The job will require
some on-call rotation support.

Fanaticism for Linux and Open Source
is essential as we avoid non-Open solutions.

Ibiblio has a strong

supporting them. Ability to communicate clearly and affably is
essential.
