The Triangle Business Journal is reporting that apartment vacancies have hit
a
15 year high of 13%, compared with a 4% vacancy rate in 1998. I wonder if
this indicates that there's been a significant number of people who've simply
moved out of the area? The other option is a significant number of renters
purchased houses in the same time period.
The other thing I've noticed is traffic on I40 seems to be getting better,
which would indicate the same thing, unless there's been a huge shift toward
telecommuting.
