Unless you have a sufficiently large group willing to invest up front in a
self-insured fund of some kind ( & have to find yourselves a Third Party
Administrator...), to band together for purposes of group benefits, you have
two options:
1. create a holding company that owns at least 50% of each participating
company/group/proprietorship/whatever
2. establish a formal (i.e. subject to all regulatory requirements)
association which would market its members as a group to various insurors for
quotes--all group coverages are subject to minimum numbers/percentages of
eligible members actually partcipating, the list of "musts" goes on...
Either of theses options is "doable", but NOT a snap and would require
resources for administration, including various fun activities like premium
reconciliation, regulatory compliance, etc., not to mention giving up partial
ownership in the first approach. One of my staff here is a benefits guru.
If anyone has questions, feel free to email me.

Great idea!

How hard would this be to set up here?

Could a corporation/LLP whatever be set up for the main purpose of
qualifying
it's members better health coverage, without loss of independence for the
contractors? Do we need something like MediaAlliance here, or would it be
redundant?
