Normal for my neck of the desert is really hot in June, and then July-Aug
less
hot during the day but nights that cool off.  The last 2 summers, the nights
haven't been cooling off.  Last summer we didn't really have a fall - it went
from summer to winter within a week, with winter starting unexpectedly with a
killing frost to the garden....right out of the blue.

Normally very blue skies here.  I did see what I know think is a chem trail
forming yesterday a/m  I could hear the plane, but it was up too high to see
(military?)  The chemtrail stayed put the entire day !!!  until it rained
late
in the p/m.  Half hour after the chemtrail was lined across from horizon to
horizon,,,,, a commercial passenger jet - which I could see.... had normal
vapor
trail - i.e. as the plane moved forward the other end of the vapor trail
dissipated, evaporated, or whatever they do.  The difference was obvious.  At
the time, there was not a single cloud or whisp of cloud in the sky.

76 degrees up here in the normally 110 degree August.  Rain until June this
year
and normally we get a little rain in December and January.  Nights are down
to
the 30s.  Absolutely NOT normal!

Easy enuf to dehydrate.... how do you prepare to eat later?  Jut add water
and
cook? or what?

The only thing I've dehydrated so far garlic..  Beans are just dey on the
pods,
so I'm not counting my dried beans.

Subject: Re: [Homestead] summer squash

NO! NO! NO!  Summer squash is low-acid and has to be pressure canned. Unless
you
want squash mush, don't think about canning.  Go with the dehydrating.

Now, you can make zucchini pickles and they are good IF 1) you can find some
Pickle Crisp, and 2) you pasteurize them, not BWB.  If you can't find the
Pickle
Crisp OR if you are totally into organic, use grape leaves.  I generally use
one
grape leaf to a jar for cucumber pickles and have decided that I really need
2
grape leaves for zucchini pickles.

Around here there is so much summer squash this year nobody can even give it
away. I'm picking a crate every 2-3 days.... zucchini, yellow, and white &
yellow patty pans.

My freezer is full and everything else I read says canning summer squash
doesn't
result in a good product. Has anyone here canned summer squash?

Do patty pans can well?

I don't know about anyone else, but the garden has swallowed about 8 hours of
my
time every day this year.  I'm looking forward to a break at this point.
Although I think I should try to figure out how to build a decent greenhouse
so
I can grow year round.

HAARP or not, the US probably has the capacity to manipulate the weather.  It
is
the ultimate weapon, and we have been toying with it publicly for decades.
Here
it is August and the worst thing that has ran through the Gulf was a TD.  It

Odd,
too, that 20 million Pakistanis are now homeless and starving-the worst

Actually the product is StingEze..Ingredients: Camphor, Liquified
Phenol, Benzocaine, Diphenhydramine, Eucalyptol, Propylene Glycol
It's good stuff. I said lidocaine because I was thinking that was what
was in this, but apparently not, it's Benzocaine.

Back when I smoked, I always had a ready made herbal prep for insect
stings...spit and tobacco poultice..works great. I guess that is
probably the ONLY downside to quitting.
