Global warming means lots of freshwater from glacial ice (and rain from
warmer clouds and tropical systems) dumping into the oceans which messes
up the salinity conveyor. That in turn takes a few years to really
churn up the oceans, but soon you see a die off and a lot cooler, more
cloudy weather, with few tropical systems because the sea surface is no
longer warm enough to support it. No tropical systems means no heat
dispersion from the equatorial regions to the poles and when the heat
engine breaks, cold takes over and creeps ever so slowly at first, down
from the poles. Summers may be shorter or cooler, Fall, winter, or
Spring longer and wetter. We may be due for a Little Ice Age or a
Younger Dryas again, or who knows, even a full blown Ice Age.
If anyone has a homeschooler who might want to research this a bit,
especially since President Obama is talking about climate change at the
UN, this page is pretty good.

and weather extremes, there is always the ever entertaining Ice Age Now

Bev,
I think the Ice Age theory makes a lot more sense than the Global Warming Crisis.
I'm tired and my mind refuses to think much right now, though. All weekend I made a cabinet for my kitchen. It was the first time I've ever 'constructed' anything that required so much measuring and cutting, and I was surprised to find that I rather like them in the end, lol. I posted pictures on my blog. Very low-tech! These were more than an ordinary challenge because the floor in the kitchen is unlevel. There's a drop of about 3" from the stove end to the sink end of the room, so the dilemma was to make the cabinets in such a way that it wasn't so obviously not square. The floor line follows the floor. The counter top is level. Everything in between had to compensate for the difference. The rest are going to be on a different plane, not cutting across the unlevel plane, so it won't be
as hard. I hope.
