Ah geez, I am NOT good at describing things but here goes.

To make a dual use pillion, use a right-angled triangle as the basis for your pattern with the tall part of the "L" being the length from the back of your knee to your panty line. The base of the "L" being the length from the back of your knee to mid-calf, then when you sit the pillow so that is is sitting on the base of the "L" you have a back support for sitting in bed. When you "tip it over" it will be a perfect fit for using to support your bent knees.

I would make a ticking "pillow" and then make a zip cover to match whatever. The width of the pillow would be determined by the size zipper I could find.

Am I clear as mud as usual?

I know there are quite a number of people who sew on the list, so I ask
here:
I have a few old pillows, like bed pillows, that have seen better days,
but that I don't want to throw away. Most are the hypoallergenic foam
type. I'd like to make some kind of pillow from the bed pillows, but I
am having trouble with design.

Option #1 is to make some kind of wedge shaped support pillow, something
that I could prop up on and use under my feet when I need to put my feet
up. It could also be used behind the knees when laying in bed.
Sometimes, when I back hurts, it helps to lay on my back with something
supporting my bent knees.

Option #2 is to make one of those wing-arm support pillows like you can
buy at Walmart, the kind you prop up in bed with. They are great if you
are sick and eating or reading in bed. Flip them over into that wedge
shape and you have a support for stretching your back.(pillow under chest)

Option #3 is to make doggie beds for the baby boys. Both of them enjoy
a soft comforter to lay on. I took an old comforter, cut it in half,
and lined their crates with it, but I was thinking that I could use the
comforter to cover a pillow that could be used both in the crate and in
the living room. In the winter, they like to lay near the woodstove,
and I am trying to keep them off the furniture(they now have only one
chair they are allowed to be on)

I'm sure you guys will have other ideas, too. I'd love to hear them.
I sew, but it is not my best skill, so the simpler the idea, the better.
I'm leaning towards option #1, because I think it will be the most
useful, but I am not exactly sure how to go about it. Do you think a 45
degree angle is too steep? 35 degree?
