The head gardener had a great knowledge of plants and different ways to grow them. Maybe you have to have a love of things British to really appreciate it. It was so interesting, and got me interested in more root crops, hotframes, and forcing. They showed the head gardener building up the hotframe, then putting potted strawberry plants in it to force.
I've never successfully forced anything, but I've only tried with things like daffodils, tulips and poinsettias. It was my understanding that forcing shortens the life span of the plant-not true? Are they buying strawberry plants to force or propagating them?
