Business or personal - it makes a difference.
If business - Quickbooks.
If personal - a spreadsheet is sufficient for most people.

I've used MS Money, but honestly, I think these things take up more time
than they are worth. I think you can do the same things with Excel,
pare it down to what matters to you, and go from there. The charts
nice, but again, you do some nice, informative charts in Excel, too.
Just my two cents!

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public
debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered
and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed
lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of
living on public assistance."

I have built a simple Excel spreadsheet for all that. I do not run a
business so it is simple. I keep my check register and all anticipated
bills in the spreadsheet so I can see at a glance what I want to know. It
is easy to pull selected information out for taxes.
I will say it has evolved considerably over the years as I need new
information or want to see old information differently. My spreadsheets
work equally well under Openoffice.
