None have been eaten by predators in the two years we've had them, but as a vegetarian I've considered offing them on several occasions.
bird might as well carry a sign that says I AM DINNER to all winged and
toothed predators. :)
The latter three always find their way over/under the fence and forage on the unprotected front lawn, where the grass IS truly greener. The preacher's yellow labs got loose and chased them around the other day (fortunately, I was there to save their feathered butts) but did that teach them a lesson? No,--those bad girls are still smoking cigarettes, flirting with the boys, and taunting the neighbor's dogs on our front lawn. every. day.
We've got some white Spitzhaubens on order (my husband's idea), and I sure hope they aren't the troublemakers our other white hens have been. If you want white chickens IMO no predator is willing to tangle with, then the Egyptian Fayoumis are for you. They've managed to survive since Biblical times on the Nile. They aren't very big, but they lay big white eggs quite consistently.
