Pilgrim's Pride went into Chap 11, today. They must be East Coast, I
never see their chickens out here. Ususally Sanderson or Tyson, I think .
They (PP) are selling maybe 40 - 50 million chickens annually, according to
the stats below. That is a lot of chickens

The nation's largest chicken producer, Pilgrim's Pride, filed for Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection on Monday. Here's a look at the top five players in the
chicken industry as of the middle of 2008:
_Pilgrim's Pride: 23 percent of market share, average weekly production of
170 million pounds

_Tyson Foods: nearly 19 percent, with production of 140 million pounds

_Perdue Farms: 7.6 percent, with production of 56 million pounds

_Sanderson Farms: 5.6 percent, with production of 41 million pounds

_Wayne Farms: 4.6 percent, with production of 34 million pounds
