Rob--WildBlue is here, but I held out until DSL came through my canyon (a fluke). One of my friends has it, lives high on a hill, does accounting from home and loves it. However, another friend has it, lives down in a river canyon, and every time it rains can't get a connection, which is very bad for business, is constantly distressed over it. Seems to be entirely about your particular location as to whether it works well or not.

I'm thinking about getting Satellite Internet. Does anyone on the list
have it? I think we discussed the "Fair Access Policy" some time back.
I've got a neice that's come to live here and faster connection would
be great for her schooling. Cable or DSL ain't gonna happen here in
the sticks.
The way I see it the choice is Hughes or Wild Blue. The Fair Access
issue is holding me back (and the price). I work at home doing
computer tech work so the spped would be great. I connect right now
through my employers blackberry, but wireless is slow here in the
sticks also.
Do any of you have experience with the Fair Access Policy?
Here they are:
+ WildBlue's Fair Access Policy (FAP) is based on a rolling 30 day
limit on data usage per customer called a usage threshold. If you
exceed the FAP threshold, your bandwidth (speed) will be reduced for
the remainder of the 30 day period when your system quota refreshes
and you are again within your limits. During this period, your
bandwidth will be reduced to 28Kbps until your system refreshes.
++ HughesNet's Fair Access Policy (FAP) is based on a 24 hour period.
If you exceed the Fair Access Policy threshold, your bandwidth (speed)
will be reduced for a period of 24 hours. During this period, your
bandwidth will be reduced to 56Kbps until your system refreshes.
Thanks, Rob - Va
