Ahhh. That's cutting it a bit close (heh heh).

Mea culpa. I was not attempting to beard the lion in his den-stead.

The more I think about the 100-Thing list concept, the less I see the point
of it. Gene is correct wuith more-more-more. James is also correct (although
that doesn't bespeak half of what I'm getting as his total philosophy -
that's
a whole other line of thought - sorry, James, you indeed an exotic bird
amongst us).

Back to the beards - OTOH, even at age 65, I still do go for those bad boy
biker homesteader types...and I jest not - they're out there! Check 'em out
if
you're ever passing through Littlerock, or Pearblossom (CA). Freezers full of
meat and fish they've caught / killed themselves and sheds full of staples,
and gardens full of vegetables-in-season.

Kinda like here (east of Barstow), where we'd be totally isolated if The Big
One hit. We've formed committees to deal with the isolated folks, and older
folks, and especially large animal rescue, and divided our Silver Valley up
into quadrants, whereby neighbors can see to neighbors in the event of a
disaster.

There's a CERT training session planned for next month, but there we go
again, leaning on the dreaded Big Brother. Good stuff to know, but don't
expect
anyone but YOURself to help you. We had CalTrans out to our last meeting, and

they do have a plan, but are terribly under-manned (translate to
under-monied).

We all have, or are working on, the equivalent of a 100-thing list - mine
includes dogs and...goats and chickens. I s'pose that's viable.

I've probably said all this before. There are free cellphones available,
that will only dial 911...I think they should include GPS capabilities, but
then, I'd have to start dealing the the bureaucracy. Ptooey.

And - since there are lots of places that don't actually have roads or
addresses, there are porch lights that will continue blinking on-off until
our
volunteers arrive.
