Well, there's one thing about being an "older parent" it that I do kind of like. I am a LOT more relaxed in the raising of this child than I was my first, and I think that's a positive thing. There's 9 years between them and what a difference that decade made in my life. That part's nice.

On the other hand, I am also sometimes hard pressed to stay up later than she does. That part's not. But I take comfort in the smoke alarms.

I, for one, am thankful to not be procreating at age 45 (or older). You see
it everywhere, people having kids in their 40's+. It seems fine and may very
well suit some folk, but when I do the math at what age the person will be
when their children graduates from home school... It seems too cruel to
make a woman begin menopause with an infant to raise--not to mention the
terrific teen years.
