As we hillbillies know, low traffic count is one of the perks of living way beyond the suburbs. Yesterday, a Saturday morning beginning at 7:20, I drove up to Springfield, Missouri, which is about ninety miles and just under two hours northwest of Heartwood. It takes nearly forty minutes to cruise the twenty-five miles out to the first straight road. What was remarkable yesterday was not the time it took, but the fact that I drove for twenty-six miles before I saw another car. That might be a record for me here.
In Phoenix I could possibly go three blocks before I meet another car. In twenty-six miles I might easily see vehicles numbering in the thousands.
Seems to me this is better.
