Vinegar removes soap scum very well, whether from the shower walls or your
head. It doesn't really make combing any easier, though, if there are
tangles. I sometimes use homemade soap as a shampoo. I still prefer to
use some product to keep my hair comb-able, as my long hair is baby fine and
tangles easily. If you comb hair out thoroughly before washing, agitate the
hair as little as possible while washing (which puts tangles back into the
hair), and comb it out while still very wet, you can get away without a
detangler with long hair, but it is infinitely easier to use a little
commercial detangler. When using homemade soap, I find that a vinegar rinse
helps to avoid build-up in my hair, but again, that does nothing about the
tangle issue. Good luck, Judy!
