I am reminded of what Karen said about radiation levels having to be
within a certain range before humans could exist. It would seem the
same is true of methane.

Methane is the simplest hydrocarbon. It is also a "waste" product of
life, esp. microbial life.

Scientists need to get onto the same page. We have been reading for
years how the destruction of the Amazon rain forest is contributing
to global warming. So now we are to believe that fewer plants are better?

That's exactly my point. It's all so wishy washy, and everyone has an
agenda because they are funded by various sources... the "study of the
day" idea seems prevalent...the latest and greatest isn't always so..and
on the other hand, many times, new instrumentation and new approaches
shed new light on the issue....very complex issue..too complex to assign
it to one cause and one cause only.

It is little recognized that about 25 per cent of atmospheric
methane results from anaerobic microbes that live in the
oxygen-poor soils in rice paddies.

Kill all the rice. This would also help with the human population problem.

That's funny, cause I thought the same thing...lol..
I was thinking about this though, the methane from rice comes from
anaerobic microbes in the muck of the paddy. A rice paddy is an
artificial wetland..As population grows and we build over natural
wetlands and bogs, we 'eliminate' natural methane, and yet create
paddies which feed the billions of Asians to replace it..does it balance
out? I dunno.

The real problem, as I see it, is not meat eaters or cows or even
the sun, it's people. There are too many people on the planet..unsustainable...of course, we all agree there, I think.

Yep. Kill all the people. Except for us.

We aren't special. The revenge of the microbes will apply to us, too.

I personally think that Nature will take care and rectify the situation, and I believe in a Power greater than myself.

Me, too. It is called nature. Nature bats last. Humans are only temporarily in the lineup.

There ya go....

Seems to me that everyone will do what makes them feel good. Sooner
or later Gaia with send humans to join the dinosaurs. Might happen
slow, might happen fast.

The only reason I didn't say Nature and Gaia is because I think of those
terms as being Earth bound. A chunk of rock hurling in from outer space
is not controlled by Mother Earth, solar dimming or solar radiation is
not controlled by Mother Earth. Gaia is just the finger of the greater
Power and Force of the Universe.

Eat, drink, and be merry. If you have anything to say to anyone that
you feel is important, say it now.

It's not that important, but..
((((Hello everyone))))
