Fertile soil: chickweed, lambsquarters, pigweed
Low fertility: mustard, thistle, wild radish, peppergrass, Queen Anne's
lace, Johnson grass, broom sedge
Crust formation or hardpan or both: bindweed, horse nettle, morning
glory, quack grass, mustard, stinging nettle, pineapple weed.
Cultivated soil: lambsquarters, plantain, chickweed, dandelion, nettle.
Poorly drained soil/clay: smartweed, bindweed, plantain, chicory, dock,,
hedge nettle, garden thistle, sorrel
Acid soil: sorrel, dock, lady's thumb, horsetail, dandelion, broom sedge
Salty soil: shepherds purse, russian thistle, sea aster
Sandy soil: goldenrod, asters, wild lettuce, onions, horsetail
Potassium overload: wormwood, knapweed, poppy
Alkaline soil: iron weed, sagebrush, woody aster, pennycress, peppergrass
Low in Calcium: crabgrass, fox glove, wild pansy, thistle, dandelion,
burdock
