Subaru..
Here's a tidbit of astronomy trivia..
The Subaru company was formed in Japan after WWII from a union of 6
different companies. They needed a name, and looked to the stars. The
Pleiades 'sub-constellation' provided the answer. In Japanese culture,
that group of stars is known as Subaru. In common terms, we often refer
to the small group of stars as the Seven Sisters, as there are 7 main
stars in the asterism (about 100 total). It is an open cluster in
Taurus, and looks like a small cloud of stars to the naked eye if you
look to the west of Orion, then west of Aldebaran (a yellow orange star
that makes the eye of the bull) in the sky this time of year. Anyway,
this little group of 6 highly visible stars is the inspiration for the
Subaru logo. Ron calls the Pleiades, the "micro-dipper" because to him
it is rather dipper shaped. For kids, this is the area of the galaxy
where the little gray aliens are alleged to call home. You often hear
extraterrestrials referred to as Pleiadians.
Anyway, the car company has named one of it's cars appropriately as
well. The Subaru Alcyone is named for the brightest star in the
Pleiades cluster.
Just thought I'd pass that on,,,can't think about Subarus without
thinking about that, and of course, recalling lots of fun memories in
the back of my ex-fiance's Brat, oh so long ago.

Toni in KY - who has been homebound (dang it's nice here) since the
23rd, and the Subaru is finally fixed at the shop in town today ;-)
