Yes, we did but it was short. He said he thought they were about to get cut
off again and he wasn't hitting send as fast as he could. Haven't heard
from him since, so I guess they have shut down the messages which means
someone in their area was KIA.

BTW, as I understand it, unless they are a photo op group, the meals in Iraq
and Afghanistan are way below standard!

One of the folks who was in charge of one of the kitchen set up by Halliburton was an HSU graduate and from our old stomping grounds. She was fired because she refused to use mayo and some other products that had been left out in the heat for days. Needless to say, leaving a jar of mayo out in 110 degree heat does NOT make for a great product to use in making sandwiches! Also, some of the stuff actually said "must refrigerate" and it was left out in the heat.

Will do.
I was upset most of yesterday. I found out he had no where to go for
Christmas and ended up sleeping most of the day. (They are back in port
at present, due to head back out in the next week or so) Anyway, most of
his shipmates got leave...since he is a NUB, he had to stay to rewire
the generators on the sub. He didn't even get a decent meal from the
galley. People forget about the regular military guys unless they are
serving in Afghanistan or Iraq...these days, if you are in the service,
you are in danger anywhere in the world, either from the
misappropriations of military spending or from enemy combatants or rogue
governments....dangerous work. TJ runs the sub's nuclear reactor and
the diesel generators..he just got a promotion to PO2-he star reinlisted.
Lynda, did you hear from Kirk yesterday? I heard 6 were KIA in Iraq,
not a good day.
