Whatever happened to the older paradigm of building a business from the
ground up slowly and with the captial the business itself earned? If the fellow's business is indeed improving that much, then why can't it finance expansion? Oh, not as fast perhaps, but much more surely.
We Americans, and, I suspect, many citizens of the world, have become seduced by the various marketing media to believe that patience is a fault. Each generation wants more and wants it faster. What salespeople, marketers and Wall Street mavens want, no, demand, is more sales now, not tomorrow. Many quite substantial businesses are pushed into making decisions not by market analysis and careful R&D, but by stockholders' representatives who want profit this quarter and next quarter and, by god, keep that ever-rising profit coming in even if it bankrupts the business. In that case reshuffle the deck and begin anew.
We live in interesting times. Enjoy the journey.
