Our dogs aren't big, a Pitcur Hound and an AmStaff. We see the coyotes every now and again but they skirt our place. The hound raises a stink if she can even smell one around, the pit could care less, she'd rather chase deer <g>
In the past we've had Aussies, Shepherds and Wolfhounds. The Aussies and Shepherds worked as a team. The wolfhound thought having coyotes around was invented just for her and was great sport. While we had Kate, all the neighbors around said they stopped being bothered by the coyotes.
I don't think they are terribly interested in tangling with dogs unless they are mighty hungry.

discussion going on. And didn't someone post a while back (Van Dell, was it you?)
that snakes were welcome in the barn - to gobble up the rodents ? (Well, not
rattlesnakes, maybe!). Anybody?

The question of coyotes can kill large dogs has come up on the
Rottweiler list I'm on. Anybody know of any actual attacks on bigger
dogs? We have coyotes all over here, and I don't recall any such
incidents, although they certainly go after small dogs and cats. We've
had several cats, both house and barn types, disappear in the 10 years
we've been here, but then we have hawks, eagles, and owls too.
