Me, too. And I can only agree. The only upside to having an extensive lurking
wardrobe is that nothing fades from exposure to the light of day! Everything
does
seem to be getting smaller, though, especially around the middle. Hmmm...

Yup. A given. I'm not totally non-participatory, only where I'm not sure of
myself. I'm on the board of the property owners association, and issues like
water, property rights (recently - and in particular - eminent domain), road
conditions, fending off the invasion of a 30,000 head dairy operation (yes, we
gave them the boot and they set up shop down the road a ways), etc. are very
important to me.
And, on that note, thanks for the additional BBC links - I must have whizzed
right by them (still in costume, no doubt!).
Last, about your dad: the sort of appreciation and respect you show is sorely
lacking today, and I don't see it coming back any time soon. I have been here
1
year and 1 month, and am still unpacking books. Coincidentally, when your
email
came in, I was musing and perusing through my grandmother's journal. Part of
it
includes her journey west to Salt Lake, in the proverbial covered wagon, and
describes her anger at one of the local 'heathens', who put a tomohawk through
the bottom of her prized copper-bottomed washtub. The page fairly sizzles!
