WE have early blueberries here, about 35-40 bushes worth. WE used to have
more, but hubby mowed a few down last year that were covered with brambles
and hard to pick. He didn't tell me, he just decided to clear that spot.
We still have plenty of blueberries. The last two years we picked 18 gallon
freezer bags full. This year we've picked 8 gallon freezer bags and I think
we're about 1/3 to 1/2 done.

Wineberries look like they are getting ready to ripen, they are something.
Similar to red raspberries but slightly tangy and more perishable. I have a
friend who made wine last year from wineberries. They grow wild all over
the place, we also ahve some wild blackberries, but not many.

My current cobbler recipe has a doughy texture to
the crust and I like more crispy cobbler, so if anyone has a crispy
cobbler crust recipe, I would love for you to share.

Cobbler--and fruit pie--is one of my most favorite things in the world. I
use a recipe from an older Farm Journal cookbook. When my Grandma passed, I
got her old cookbooks--no one else wanted them because most of the rest of
my family could care less about old books or could care less about cooking
from scratch most of the time. Their loss--my gain. I'll look up the
recipe. It's my favorite cobbler recipe. I can't stand the new ones where
you dump in the dough mixture and then add the fruit on top---way too doughy
for me. My FJ recipe won't produce a crisp dough, but it is very firm and
definitely biscuit like. It soaks up milk great--which is a thing we do in
my family. We pour milk on top of our cobbler. No ice cream--just about a
half cup of milk.

And I agree with William.

I'm up late for me. My hubby has a gig in upstate WV, six hours away. We
seldom spend nights apart.

Take care.

Lisa
