Don, have you already done the I-40/route 66 trek west? I-40 is boring as
expected but once it starts paralelling 66 you can make some interesting
diversions. My favorite part of that route is it minimizes the time you
spend in Texas, which seems like days. (Nothing wrong with texas, just hard
to handle crossing the "fat part"
I have done I-40 from Wilmington to Barstow. I did US 50 from west to east but I was sick most of the time. My intent is to stay south this time and see some of the country I have not seen before.
Congrats on the kayak. Asheville has some great rivers nearby- check into
the Green River just a little east on I-26.
Thanks, my son and I have my mother visiting for the next week so I am hoping the weather holds. Today was absolutely beautiful, hard to believe this is mid October.
