Indeed, we light special "plague candles" whenever there's a south wind.

I never read Toni's original post, because it was bounced.

We really shouldn't sully the meaning of the word. I mean, there are sane, normal people who care about clean air and clean water. Then there are Ivory Tower loonies who think we need wolves in our backyard, a ban on homegrown fennel seed, and a moratorium on analyzing old bones.

I'm very familiar with kudzu in the South, gorse on the coastal cliffs of Southern Oregon, etc. Just as one should not carelessly light matches and throw them around, one should learn as much as possible about a plant before choosing it. But I see that the "environmentalists" have a more dumbed-down version in store, where only big corporations and the government will have access to matches, so to speak. I'm thankful to live in a society that errs on the side of personal freedom, rather than a nanny state that bans, in advance, everything that might be harmful.

But by all means, keep adopting political positions that alienate large segments of our society. Maybe next time you can find an even kookier animal rights candidate for president.

And, yes, he is relatively close to CA.

There is just no doubt that environmentalists are going around and

frightening nurseries into dropping plants they've deemed invasive.

Bill, I suggest you read "A Plague of Rats
and Rubber Vines" before you spout off
any more about environmentalists .... not
criticizing - just doesn't sound to me like
you understand *all* the ramifications
of "invasive" plants.
