Hi,

I am going to be shameless and suggest a couple of my recent books because they are completely organic and geared to the beginning and "intermediate" gardener. Complete Home Gardening, Creative Homeowner, was re-released last year and includes information about most categories of gardening. Here is a link to a review that came out this week--scroll down on the page to see it: http://www.startribune.com/10180/story/1266904.html

The Plant Propagator's Bible (Rodale) came out last year, too. Obviously, it covers only propagation, so isn't as relevant. The Gardener's Problem Solver (Reader's Digest) came out in 2004 and covers a wide variety of topics--not just pests and pathogens as many "problem solvers" books do.

As for pest and pathogen information, there really isn't that much new in the last few years, so any of the many Rodale books are relevant to beginners.

Best,

Miranda
