Would anyone happen to know if this cover crop was used between the tomato
plants while they were growing or just in a field that had been enriched
through the use of a cover crop before/after the tomatos were planted?

Sorry if I'm being dense but I don't see the answer here. I have used cover
crops in a fallow bed but the places between the plants get lettuces, herbs,
and marigolds. Of course, I don't use a fungicide and only rarely fertilize
(although I do work in compost and manure every year), so...
