Greetings all,

Jonathan has now joined us, so we have four CA’s in fewer days.  It appears this is indeed a needed resource.  As promised.  I want to start things off with an introduction to myself and my organization (although Stan is the only person on so far that I haven’t met.  If you get a chance, I would love to hear about everyone else and your organization…

HISTORY

Firstly, I joined IntraHealth (which was then Intrah, a division of the medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill) in the fall of 2001.  I came from an entrepreneurial background working largely in ecommerce and NIDR (Networked Information Discovery and Retrieval) research.  Prior to Intrah I worked for the SunSITE project, UNC Press, Ventana Press, Lightworks Technology Foundation, catalogue.com, Genfinity Corporation.  I have been doing Internet research and development since 1989 (FTP archiving, WAIS, gopher, WWW)  and senior technology management (CTO, CIO, IT Director) since 1993.  My international experience prior to IntraHealth was limited to consulting work in England and Israel, but back in the late nineties, I read a rather large article in Wired by Neal Stephenson following the installation of the London-Tokyo backbone.  He urged us .com entrepreneurial types back then to step out of our backyard and get involved in the experiences and challenges of wiring the world.  This article set me on the path that has me here at IntraHealth today.  May the adventure continue!

INTERESTS

I am interested in serving a global organization with all of the disparate challenges of a widespread set of field offices, helping the organization function as a unified entity with efficient decision-making and implementation processes to improve the quality of life of underserved communities and individuals.  I believe this list can help by unifying all of our experiences into a whole that can help each of us meet the needs of our organizations, and share solutions to common problems.
