When I removed the symbolic link UniVerse fails with an error message that says it cannot locate libodbc.so, so obviously UniVerse is loading it directly. Does this help shed some light on the cause of my problem?

Thanks.

Mmmm.... libodbc.so is the name of DM library, not driver one.
It can be a problem if the driver is loaded directly by IBM UniVerse.
To avoid this remove libodbc.so symbolic link and use libtdsodbc.so in
odbc.ini
