I see what you're pointing me to. It took a while to find - the subject line looked irrelevant to my problem. Thanks. I'm not sure this will help me get it to build, but I'll keep reading for hints.

For what it's worth, it appears to have compiled just fine on a Solaris 8 box I'm running. My attempt on Solaris 9 still fails on build of tsql.

Thanks,
-Jason

Martin,

I didn't read the text of all the recent posts, but I did look through the archives and try to find mention of a similar problem - somewhat hard to do when there's no search function included in the archive. Now I've skimmed the last few days of posts, but I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Is this what you're pointing me to:

On Solaris you usually have to add -lsocket and/or -lnsl to programs
that do communication over network. I'd use both: libsocket for
'socket' and libnsl for the rest ;-)

If the answer's out there in the archive, how about a hint as to the subject line for the thread so I can find it?

Thanks Martin,
Jason

I'm trying to build the CVS version (freetds-0.64.dev.20041202) or the stable version (freetds-0.62.4) on Solaris 9 using gcc, and it seems to be failing on make for the "apps" target (same error for both). I was wondering if anyone out there could lend me a hand.

You'd probably want to read the postings of the past two days. I know
you didn't, otherwise you would'nt have asked :-)

Martin.
