Sorry, I found the problem... in my freetds.conf file instead of writing
version I wrote verspn that is why it was not working...

Nothing strange there....

couple of questions.

what is the TDS version you're using to connect to the server ?
you should have an entry like this in freetds.conf


[MYSERVER]
host = 123.456.78.45
port = 3001
tds version = 7.0

tds version should be 7.0 for SQL server 7 and 7.0 or 8.0 for SQL server
2000


You did leave it a few seconds to complete before killing ?
