That would be my preference, yes. Would that be acceptable to you?

Nothing like that. You're the primary author of the ODBC driver. It's
going to reflect your style and your ideas. I don't want my assert()
statements -- especially wrong ones -- to interfere. And I don't want you
to feel you're working against me.

I don't happen to *like* ODBC very much, but I understand it's useful, even
irreplaceable sometimes. I want it to work. And to work well, so I don't
have to answer questions about it. ;-)
