The problem was missing vsnprintf() on some platforms.

We could have just provided a replacement for vsnprintf().

But, what was really needed in dbfcmd() was to "allocate enough space and
sprintf() to that space". That's exactly the functionality that
[v]asprintf() is supposed to provide. I figured it made more sense to
change the dbfcmd() code to use [v]asprintf(), and provide a replacement for
systems that don't have it.

Ok, think i got it. Somebody mentioned something about a mutex, so I was
unsure. I did the original vsnprintf implementation which i stole from the
man page. Is the primary problem here speed of the multiple reallocs or
some reentrancy problem?
