So, is it true that it DOES work from the command line if you have:

- NO interfaces file anywhere
- NO ~/.freetds.conf
- JUST /usr/local/freetds/etc/freetds.conf

?

Does the "apache" or "nobody" user have permission to read
/usr/local/freetds/etc/freetds.conf

?
