Brian and James,
Thanks for the help. I figured out what was going on, and now it's all working.
Now here's where i need to apologize. I got an email from someone on another list who was having the same problem. His problem was a big endian problem, which he solved by hacking the code for version 0.53. I thought there was something suspicious there, so, for the 3rd time, i inspected my configuration. I found out that I had two installations of freetds and that I wasn't actually using the current version. my setup was still using the previous installation of version 0.53. So, i've installed the current version of tds from cvs and now i'm running it on tds version 4.2 cause 7.0 outputs numbers wierdly. The messages stopped when i uninstalled all of the freetds libraries and then installed them again.
So, I'm sorry to have bothered you with this. Once more, it was more a problem of user error than faulty code. Thanks incredibly much for the help though.
Jon.
John,
Let's compare notes. I don't receive this error running on:
FreeTDS CVS version.
DBD::Sybase 0.93
Linux/Intel 2.4.7
Sybase 11.0.3
I'm pretty sure that Sybase/Microsoft version don't matter, as both will
deliver the message. The other errors you are getting are also 570x in
number and are usually masked by the application (DBD::Sybase).
One thing that bothers me is that the default message handler for
DBD::Sybase usually looks like:
DBD::Sybase::st execute failed: Server message number=17000 severity=16
state=1 line=1 text=timeouts at ./tester.pl line 15.
or something along those lines, so the error does not seem to be coming
directly from dbd::sybase. Michael is usually on the list maybe he can
confirm. But please post your vitals so we can start narrowing this down.
